Mit einer außergewöhnlichen Stellenanzeige – der Job ist befristet auf drei Tage – sucht das Team vom CHIO Aachen CAMPUS Entwickler und Kreative, Gamer, Studenten, Start-Upper und Texter. Mit Unterstützung des digitalHUB Aachen wird vom 28. bis zum 30. Oktober der erste CHIO Aachen Hackathon organisiert.
10.000 Euro Preisgeld warten auf die Teams mit den besten Ideen. Drei Tage und zwei Nächte lang entwickeln die Teilnehmer:innen an außergewöhnlichen Orten auf dem Gelände des CHIO Aachen in spontan gebildeten Teams neue Konzepte und setzen sie gemeinsam um. Immer im Hinterkopf sind dabei die Fragen rund um den „smart CHIO“: Welche Neuerungen wünschen sich die CHIO Aachen-Fans? Was sind mögliche Ideen für die Kunden der Sponsoren von morgen? Wie können das Fan-Engagement und die Bindung an den CHIO Aachen gesteigert werden? Wie sind 365 Tage CHIO Aachen im Jahr umsetzbar? Wie kann der Pferdesport weiter digitalisiert werden? Welche innovativen Techniken können dabei helfen?
Als internationale Top-Veranstaltung, die Jahr für Jahr mehr als 350.000 Besucher auf das berühmteste Reitsportgelände der Welt lockt, wird auch der CHIO Aachen von der Digitalisierung bestimmt. Projekte wie die „Judging App“ sind längst Realität. „Die Suche nach Antworten auf eine veränderte Erwartungshaltung der Sportfans ist damit natürlich nicht abgeschlossen“, erläutert Stefan Knopp, Leiter des CHIO Aachen CAMPUS die Motivation.
Hilfestellung gibt es während des Events von erfahrenen Startup-Coaches aus dem digitalHUB Aachen sowie ein Pitch-Training für die neu entwickelten Ideen, Geschäftsmodelle und Prototypen. Eine namhafte Fachjury kürt in einer öffentlichen Siegerehrung die besten Konzepte. Zudem bietet der CHIO Aachen 2022 die Chance auf eine reale Anwendungsmöglichkeit inkl. intensiver Pressearbeit und Kommunikation der besten Ideen.

Das erwartet dich:
Woher kommen die Ideen?
Die könnt ihr mitbringen, oder spontan vor Ort entwickeln. Zu Beginn des Hackathons kann jede Teilnehmer:in seine Idee vorstellen. Nach den Ideen-Pitches könnt ihr euch in Gruppen zusammenfinden, und die Ideen während des Hackathons konzipieren, hacken und verfeinern.
Überzeugt anschließend die Jury mit euren Ideen und Kenntnissen und gewinnt die Preisgelder!
Brauche ich ein Team?
Die Teams sollen in etwa aus 4-6 Teilnehmer:innen bestehen. Gerne könnt ihr euch schon vor dem Hackathon als Team formieren, aber Achtung, jedes Teammitglied muss sich separat registrieren. Falls du alleine oder in einer kleineren Gruppe teilnehmen möchtest, ist das auch kein Problem. Findet euch einfach nach den Ideen-Pitches in Teams zusammen.
Was ist mit Corona?
Wir planen und freuen uns auf eine Präsenzveranstaltung. Natürlich gilt die 3G-Regel, natürlich bitten wir Euch, den Mindestabstand einzuhalten und natürlich wird in vielen Bereichen eine Maskenpflicht gelten. Über die genauen Regeln vor Ort informieren wir Euch kurz vor Hackathon-Beginn.
Wo findet alles statt?
Das CHIO Aachen-Turniergelände ist weltberühmt, der CHIO ist nicht nur eine der größten deutschen Sportveranstaltungen, er ist auch das weltweit wichtigste und renommierteste Reitturnier. Seine Geschichte reicht 120 Jahr zurück. Ihr entwickelt Eure Ideen genau hier: Auf dem Turniergelände. Die Locations sind unterschiedlich, mal in den legendären Stallungen, mal im modernen Presszentrum, gerne auch open air in den Stadien.

With an extraordinary job advertisement – the job is limited to three days – the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS team is looking for developers and creatives, gamers, students, start-ups and copywriters. With the support of the digitalHUB Aachen, the first CHIO Aachen Hackathon will be held from October 28th to 30th. 10,000 euros in prize money await the teams with the best ideas. For three days and two nights, participants will develop new concepts in spontaneously formed teams at unusual locations on the grounds of the CHIO Aachen and implement them together. Always in the back of their minds ist the prompt „smart CHIO“: What innovations are the CHIO Aachen fans wishing for? What are possible ideas for the sponsors‘ customers of tomorrow? How can the fan engagement and the loyalty to the CHIO Aachen be increased? How can 365 days CHIO Aachen per year be implemented? How can equestrian sport be further digitalized? Which innovative techniques can help?
As a top international event that attracts more than 350,000 visitors to the world’s most famous equestrian site year after year, the CHIO Aachen is also influenced by digitalization. Projects such as the „Judging App“ are already a reality. „The search for answers to a change in the expectations of sports fans does not end there, of course,“ explains Stefan Knopp, Head of the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS.
Assistance will be provided during the event by experienced start-up coaches from the digitalHUB Aachen, as well as pitch training for the newly developed ideas, business models and prototypes. A renowned jury of experts will select the best concepts in a public award ceremony. In addition, the CHIO Aachen 2022 offers the chance for a real application opportunity including intensive press work and communication of the best ideas.
Where are the ideas coming from?
You can bring them with you, or develop them spontaneously on-site. At the beginning of the hackathon, each participant can present his or her idea. After the idea pitches, you can get together in groups and design, hack and refine the ideas during the hackathon.
Afterwards, convince the jury with your ideas and knowledge and win the prize money!
Do I need a team?
Teams should consist of approximately 4-6 participants. You are welcome to form a team before the hackathon, but beware, each team member must register individually. If you want to join the event alone or in a smaller group, that’s no problem either. Just get together in teams after the idea pitches.
What about Corona?
We are planning and looking forward to a face-to-face event. Of course, the 3G rule will apply, we will ask everyone to keep the minimum distance and masks will be mandatory in many areas. We will inform you about the exact rules on site, shortly before the start of the hackathon.
Where is the even going to be?
The CHIO Aachen grounds are world famous. The CHIO is not only one of the biggest German sporting events, it is also the world’s most important and prestigious equestrian event. Its history goes back 120 years. You develop your ideas right here: On the show grounds. The locations are different, sometimes in the legendary stables, sometimes in the modern press centre, sometimes open air in the stadiums.

What is a hackathon anyway?
You have never been to a hackathon? That’s no problem: 48 intensive hours await you, during which you can work on a problem together with like-minded people. As teams, you develop ideas, business models and prototypes, which are then presented to a jury of experts.
The goal, besides the prize money, is to develop new ideas, make new contacts and, above all, have a lot of fun!
